This primary bathroom began as a bright white space that felt somewhat sterile compared to the rich, moody character found throughout the rest of this early-1900s home. The goal was to create a bathroom that felt timeless and full of personality while honoring the home’s original charm.
To bring warmth and depth into the space, the walls were painted Polished Mahogany by Sherwin-Williams. Traditional wall molding was added throughout the room, enhancing its architectural character and creating a more refined, layered look. The Elliston Double Vanity serves as a beautiful focal point, complementing the richness of the wall color and reinforcing the home’s classic aesthetic.
The existing nickel finishes were replaced with warm brass accents, creating a striking contrast against the deep mahogany walls. The marble flooring was also removed in favor of dark hardwood floors that carry the same rich tones found throughout the rest of the home, creating a seamless sense of continuity.
To complete the transformation, a new pendant light and elegant drapery were added around the bathtub, giving the space an intimate, atmospheric feel reminiscent of a sophisticated old-world speakeasy.
The finished bathroom strikes a beautiful balance between historic charm and modern luxury. With its deep colors, warm metallic finishes, and thoughtful architectural details, this transformation brings a completely new sense of character to the space while feeling perfectly at home within the original house.
